Bishop Roger Foys will celebrate a memorial Mass for Father Josiah Booth, Saturday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington.
Father Booth, a priest for the Diocese of Covington, died Jan. 31, at the age of 34. Father Booth was on sick leave and was with his family in Florida.
“We are saddened by the untimely death of our brother, Father Josiah Booth,” said Bishop Roger Foys. “We thank God for his all too-brief ministry and now commend his soul to the loving care of our loving Father in heaven. We grieve our loss with his family and his friends and rely on our faith to sustain us in moments of grief. May he rest in peace and in the light and life of our loving God.”
Father Booth is survived by his mother, Vanamae Booth; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Irene Marie Booth and Major Zechariah Roloff, and a niece, Mae. His father, Raymond Booth, preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Feb. 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Massillon, Ohio, with interment at St. Clement Cemetery, beside his father.
